Ammonia Refrigeration Safety Services

PSM, RMP & IIAR Services for Ammonia Refrigeration

Ammonia refrigeration facilities that handle or store more than 10,000 lbs of anhydrous ammonia onsite are required to comply with OSHA’s Process Safety Management (PSM) standard and EPA’s Risk Management Plan rule. In addition, OSHA relies heavily on the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) and International Institute of Ammonia Refrigeration (IIAR) for national consensus standards relating to ammonia refrigeration safety and best practices.

Assero has vast experience developing, implementing and auditing PSM, RMP and IIAR programs for ammonia refrigeration facilities across the United States. Our client base ranges from family owned dairies and meat production facilities to corporate food processing and cold storage facilities. Due to extensive hands-on experience and in-depth knowledge of all 14 elements of PSM, Assero has the ability to develop and implement individualized programs that help clients achieve sustainable operations and maintain a safe work environment for their employees. Because of this, we’ve assisted several ammonia refrigeration facilities with PSM/RMP programs, IIAR Mechanical Integrity programs and 3-year Compliance Audits.

Overall, our team’s regulatory experience in developing, implementing, and auditing federal regulations, such as OSHA Process Safety Management (PSM) standard, EPA Risk Management Plan (RMP) rule, and IIAR standards, allows us to tailor programs and audits to suit the needs of each client while ensuring compliance and maximizing productivity. Furthermore, Assero’s safety professionals always use Recognized and Generally Accepted Good Engineering Practices (RAGAGEP) and have been closely following and learning the proposed revisions to both OSHA’s PSM standard and EPA’s RMP rule so they are equipped to implement the changes as necessary if the revisions are passed.
